Well I am having such fun drawing hamsters as people. And I am giggling away at my own sense of humor. Just me sketchbook shenanigans. If you know the show it’s easy to hear her saying, “Ah Pet, what’s happened to ya?”
The Teddy Bear Market is a great place to visit. Everything is either FREE, costs a penny, or a pretty button! I started out with ink and planned to do all watercolors, but then I changed and went with pencils and markers. Perfectly acceptable mess for sketchbook playtime.
My aim was to fill all the space across the spread of my sketchbook. And then to color it in with markers. It took a couple of days but every moment was coloring fun.
I enjoy the journey of a line; the story that lines and texture effects compose. Not so much a story story with a plot and words and all, but a visual story that quickens the spirit. I enjoy making lines in pen & ink but playing with pyrography has forced my hand to slow way
I sincerely swear that I convinced myself that husband would like to learn the art of wood burning. And so I bought him a small wood burning kit as a Christmas present. Predictably he is not into this and I have already made something. Luckily I bought the poor man some backup gifts.
I really went back and forth on using colored pencils on this piece. Ultimately I’m glad I did. It forced me to work slowly and consider what I was doing. It took hours and hours though, easily 40 hours just in coloring. But it has my entire concerted effort and I am proud of it.
Well if I lose these cats I can tell you the trauma to the household will be real and lasting. But the one in the foreground, Fran, is a natural hunter and hungry for space! She has been raised and kept precious in a small house – in this picture I attempted to capture her
