My cocker spaniel, Dipper, cares about a few specific things in his life. One is me, of course, he is a loyal boy who follows me so closely I often feel his drool leak into my flip-flop. And two, is my husband who throws the ball better than me and is a man so BRO! And three, TENNIS BALLS. Ball, ball, ball, ball, ball.
I turned on the Perspective Grid in Adobe Illustrator and surprised myself by how quickly I was able to draw this good boy. I looked at a few references for the shape of his face and body and it was a delightfully smooth drawing experience directly in the program. I’m used to creating a quality pen-and-ink drawing, scanning it in and tracing the drawing – it takes HOURS. This time I turned on the Perspective Grid and it forced my shapes to conform to the side of perspective that I chose (on the little cube thingy). It was fast!
